How to Use the Boggle Solver
Enter your 4×4 or 5×5 letter grid into our Boggle solver to find valid words, check possible answers, and see how each word connects on the board in three simple steps.
- Choose a board sizeSelect Classic 4×4 for a 16-letter board or Big 5×5 for a 25-letter board. The grid changes size to match.
- Enter your lettersType each letter in the same position as your physical or online board. The cursor moves forward automatically, the arrow keys move around the grid, and Backspace steps back. You can also paste all the letters at once.
- Select Find WordsThe results appear grouped by length, with the points each word scores. Select any word to highlight its path on the grid.
The solver can only be accurate when the grid you enter matches the original board. If a result looks wrong, check the letter positions first, then solve again.
Paste format
Paste 16 letters for a 4×4 board or 25 letters for a 5×5 board, for example SERS PATG LINE SERS. Spaces, commas and line breaks are ignored. The letters fill the grid from left to right and top to bottom and are never rearranged. Pasting a shorter run of letters fills the grid from the cell you are in.
Scoring used
Scores follow the same table as our game: 3–4 letters earn 1 point, 5 letters 2, 6 letters 3, 7 letters 5, and 8 or more letters 11.
Try it quickly
Select Load example board to fill the grid with a sample layout and see how the results look before entering your own letters.
Understanding Your Results
The results panel shows the total number of words found and how many points they add up to. Below that, the words are grouped by length, from three-letter words up to words of eight letters or more, with the points each group earns.
Select a word to light up its path on the board and see the letters in order, for example P → A → I → N → T → E → R → S. Select the same word again, or choose Clear highlight, to remove it. If you change any letter after solving, the old results are cleared so they never describe the wrong board.
Why some boards have so many words
Common letters such as E, A, R, S and T combine in many ways, and an S next to a word usually adds its plural. A board rich in these letters can hold hundreds of words, while a board with several hard consonants may hold only a few dozen.
If no words are found
The solver says so instead of guessing. This usually means a letter was mistyped, or the board has very few vowels. Check each row against your board and solve again.

How Does the Boggle Solver Work?
The Boggle solver searches your letter grid for words by following connected letters horizontally, vertically, and diagonally. It checks possible letter combinations against the site’s dictionary to identify words that match the game’s rules.
The solver follows these rules:
- Connected letters: Each letter must be adjacent to the previous one, including diagonal connections.
- No repeated tiles: A tile can be used only once in a single word.
- Minimum word length: Words must contain at least three letters on a 4×4 board or four letters on a 5×5 board.
- Unique results: Each valid word appears only once, even if it can be formed through multiple paths.
- Consistent scoring: Word scores follow the scoring rules used by the game.
The results depend on the letters you enter and the dictionary used by the solver. Words missing from that dictionary will not appear, even if they are accepted by another word list. If you believe a valid word is missing, please let us know through our Contact page.
