About us
BoggleGameOnline.com is an independent word-game site made by people who love hunting for words. Here’s who we are, why we built it and how it works behind the scenes.
Our story
BoggleGameOnline.com was created to make word puzzles easy to enjoy in a web browser. The idea is simple: give players a letter grid, a time limit, and the chance to discover as many words as they can.
We designed the site around quick access and straightforward gameplay, so you can start a round without downloading an app or creating an account. Whether you prefer a smaller board or a larger word-finding challenge, our goal is to make each round simple to start and enjoyable to play.
We continue to improve the experience by refining the game controls, making the rules easier to understand, and working to ensure the site runs smoothly across phones, tablets, and desktop computers.
Our mission
Our goal is to offer a fast, fair and friendly word puzzle that anyone can enjoy in a few spare minutes. We want new players to understand the rules in seconds, and experienced players to always have a harder board or a longer word to chase.
We also believe a free game shouldn’t cost you your privacy or your patience. That’s why there are no sign-ups, no downloads and no tricks to keep you clicking.
What you’ll find on BoggleGameOnline.com
Everything on the site is built around one idea: finding words in a grid of connected letters.
Two board sizes
A 16-tile Classic board for quick rounds and a 25-tile Big board for longer searches and longer words.
Levels with clear goals
120 fixed boards, each with a points target. Reach it to unlock the next one and collect up to three stars.
Free play
Unlimited random boards with a 1, 2, 3 or 5-minute timer when you just want to play without targets.
Friend challenges
Share a link after any round and your friend gets the exact same letters, plus your score to beat.
Missed-word review
When time is up, see every word the board contained and tap any of them to watch its path light up.
Helpful controls
Swipe, tap or type your words, rotate the board for a fresh angle, and get an instant reason when a word doesn’t count.
How we keep the game fair
Fair play matters in a game where every point comes down to spotting words. Here is exactly how the game works behind the scenes:
- Traditional letter distributions. Boards are rolled from the same letter spread as the 16-dice and 25-dice tabletop sets, so you’ll see familiar mixes of vowels and consonants, including the two-letter Qu tile.
- Repeatable boards. Each board comes from a short code. The same code always produces the same letters on any device, which is what makes level boards and friend challenges identical for everyone.
- An open word list. Words are checked against an open-source English word list of more than 270,000 entries. It focuses on standard dictionary words, so abbreviations, hyphenated words and most names aren’t accepted.
- Standard scoring. Points depend only on word length, from 1 point for three- and four-letter words up to 11 points for words of eight letters or more.
- Fair level goals. Before a board becomes a level, we check that it holds at least three and a half times its points goal, so no level is impossible.
- Full answer review. When a round ends, a solver traces every path on the grid, so the list of missed words is complete for our dictionary.
What we believe in
Respect your time
The board loads first. There are no intro screens, and a new round is one click away.
Respect your privacy
No accounts and no personal details are needed to play. Your progress and best scores stay on your own device.
Fair, transparent rules
Traditional letter dice, the standard length-based scoring table and an open word list, with nothing hidden.
Made for everyone
Keyboard, mouse or touch, big screen or small. The game adapts to the device in your hand.
Your privacy
You can play without creating an account or telling us who you are. Your level progress, stars and best scores are saved in your own browser’s storage, not on our servers, and clearing your browser data removes them.
Like most free websites, we may use analytics and advertising services to understand traffic and keep the game free. You can read exactly what is collected and how to opt out in our privacy policy.
Accessibility and device support
We want the game to be comfortable for as many people as possible:
- Play entirely by keyboard: type a word, press Enter to submit and Escape to clear.
- Large, high-contrast letter tiles that resize to fit phones, tablets and desktop screens.
- Clear focus outlines for keyboard users, and reduced animation if your device asks for less motion.
- Plain-language messages that explain why a word was not accepted.
If something is hard to use with your device or assistive technology, please let us know.
Who plays here
Our players include puzzle lovers looking for a five-minute break, students practising spelling, parents and teachers looking for a word activity that doesn’t feel like homework, friends in different time zones who enjoy a little rivalry, and anyone who likes keeping their mind sharp. If you enjoy hunting for words, you’re exactly who we built this for.
How we handle word suggestions
No dictionary is perfect. If you think a real word was rejected, or a word was accepted that shouldn’t be, send us the word and tell us which board size you were playing. We review suggestions and update our word list when a change makes sense.
